Which authentication app should I use?

There are many authentication apps such as Google Authenticator, Authy or Microsoft Authenticator. However, the Google Authenticator is currently struggling with a security vulnerability due to the lack of E2E encryption. This means that the protection of your own data is no longer guaranteed. For the time being, it is therefore advisable to use another form of multi-factor authentication. It is not known how long this situation will last. Google is aware of the problem and has already announced steps to restore the security of its users’ data. Until then, it is advisable to use another form of multi-factor authentication. What is the REINER SCT login software and how does it work?

The REINER SCT Login software enables secure login to Windows computers using two-factor authentication (2FA) with TOTP (Time-based One-Time Password). The software generates or checks time-based one-time passwords (TOTP), which are stored on a separate device, e.g. the REINER SCT Authenticator. This ensures additional security protection by requiring a second authentication factor in addition to the Windows password. 

How does mobile authentication with NFC work?

Thanks to the integrated NFC function, you can also authenticate yourself on the move. Simply hold the FIDO Stick Pro up to your NFC-enabled smartphone to perform authentication. This offers additional flexibility and convenience when you are out and about.

How do I set up a PIN for the REINER SCT FIDO Stick Pro under Windows?

To set up a PIN for your FIDO Stick Pro under Windows, follow these steps:
Insert the FIDO Stick Pro into a free USB port on your Windows PC.
Open the settings via the start menu and navigate to “Accounts” > “Login options”.
Scroll to “Security keys” and click on “Manage”.
Follow the instructions to add a PIN.

The 2FA increases security because even if an attacker finds out a user’s password, they cannot access the account without the second factor.
