Firewall and Intrusion Prevention System (IPS)

Powered by OPNsense, NitroWall meets all the requirements of a professional firewall and IPS, such as multiple WANs, hardware failover, routing protocols, web filtering and two-factor authentication.

VPN

VPN gateway for IPSec and OpenVPN with a powerful Intel Quadcore processor with AES-NI for high data throughput. Secure two-factor authentication using Nitrokey (instead of a password) is made possible with IPSec.

Coreboot open source firmware

Instead of a proprietary BIOS, NitroWall uses open-source Coreboot firmware that provides transparency, minimal attack surface, and high speed.

Intel management engine disabled

Sensitive and proprietary low-level hardware parts are disabled to make the hardware more resistant to advanced attacks.
The Intel Management Engine (ME) is a type of separate computer found in all modern Intel processors (CPUs). ME acts as the main processor controller and has extensive access to the computer (system memory, display, keyboard, network).

NitroWall includes a powerful Intel Quadcore J3160 processor with a frequency of 1.6 GHz and AES-NI. 8 GB RAM, SSD and four Gigabit Ethernet ports provide sufficient resources.
