Training Description

This training has been designed for parents who want to better understand today’s digital threats and consciously support their children in using the Internet safely. The program combines fundamental cybersecurity knowledge with practical solutions that can be implemented at home immediately after the training.

During the session, participants learn about the most common online threats, methods of protecting data, devices, and online accounts, as well as ways to help children navigate the digital world safely. The training also covers parental controls, restricting access to selected content and applications, online gaming and social media safety, and how to respond to hate speech and cyberbullying.

The training is practical in nature. The topics discussed are presented using examples from the everyday lives of children and parents, taking into account real issues related to smartphones, computers, messaging apps, online games, and social media platforms.

Training Objective

The objective of the training is to provide parents with the knowledge and practical skills needed to:
- better identify online threats,
- protect their child more effectively in the digital environment,
- secure devices, accounts, and the home network,
- implement reasonable Internet usage rules,
- respond appropriately in dangerous situations.

Training Program

1. Child and Parent in the Digital World
- how children use the Internet, messaging apps, games, and social media,
- the most common mistakes made by adults,
- how to talk to a child about online safety.

2. The Most Important Internet Threats

- viruses, worms, trojans, and malware,
- phishing, vishing, pretexting, baiting, and other social engineering techniques,
- personal data theft,
- fake messages, links, and websites,
- dangerous contacts and online manipulation.

3. Protection of Accounts, Passwords, and Data
- rules for creating strong passwords,
- safe use of password managers and two-factor authentication,
- protecting email accounts and online service accounts,
- the most common mistakes leading to account takeover.

4. Device and Home Network Security
- basic rules for securing computers and smartphones,
- updates, protection software, and digital hygiene,
- the basics of home Wi-Fi security,
- practical tools supporting family protection online.

5. Parental Controls and Monitoring a Child’s Online Activity
- controlling screen time,
- checking which apps and services a child uses,
- blocking access to selected applications and content,
- safe use of YouTube, Discord, online games, and social media platforms,
- child location tracking and its practical use.

6. Hate Speech, Cyberbullying, and Dangerous Online Situations
- how to recognize hate speech and cyberbullying,
- what signs may indicate a problem,
- how to respond as a parent,
- how to secure evidence and where to report incidents,
- the responsibility of children and parents in the context of online behavior.

7. Good Practices for the Family
- rules for safe Internet use at home,
- how to build healthy digital habits,
- how to establish household rules for using devices and the Internet,
- a checklist of actions to implement after the training.
